Discussion in 'Agile and Scrum' started by Ravi T, Jul 28, 2018.
Please have your course discussion or any query for GTA over here.
I got it...Thank you Ravi
Link for the book from Mike Cohn that I promised in the class :
Let me know if anyone has a trouble downloading and I'll send pdf
For good understanding on Agile and to clear the exams is it enough if we go through the book "Succeeding with Agile" by Mike Cohn?
I will leave Sandeep/Ravi to answer the question, but I would suggest to go over tests under your course and one that Exin has on it's site.
I downloaded yesterday and I'm attaching here
Thanks a lot
@Ravi : I do not see a tick mark on yesterday's session i.e. (29/7/2018) even though i had attended the whole session yesterday.
I have the same problem as Ashwin, My second session is not checked and I attended the full session.
Please Ravi or Sandeep could you get back to us on this?
Reading Mike's book is a necessary condition. As Jadranka said, I would suggest you try solving the tests on our site after you have done your preparation. Then you will be able to assess your readiness for the exam.
I would like you to review the product backlog for our project before the session tomorrow. Check out the uploaded file.
I shall also cover it in the session. I shall be asking some questions to start the thinking process.
Looking forward to the session tomorrow.
Hi There Mr. Ravi! I am new n it my class I've missed last 2 classes can I continue with next batch or only current batch will be scored?
I can start from current but can I apply with for certificates by completing next batch? or I can attend other batches only for study?
Samples for personas below (for a travel app/portal).
¡ John is a frequent traveler, who travels mostly on business for up to a week. He is a busy executive who values time and comfort. John is 45 years old. He has diabetes and doesn’t like late nights, skipped meals and unnecessary stress.
¡ Sally is a leisure traveler who goes on 2 vacations a year. She likes to go to offbeat locations and is willing to experiment. Susan is 30 years old. She is married and has two children aged 5 and 2. Child and pet friendly policies is what she greatly values, though she is very flexible and adventurous in trying new options.
¡ Susan is a travel agent with about 1 year experience. She is supposed to help customers build their itinerary. Susan is a graduate in Fine Arts and Photography and is an avid traveler herself. She is an extrovert and loves talking to people. She is savvy with all types of social media and makes use of these in helping clients. She is married and has a 6 month old baby so she is not flexible with working hours, but she is very focused when she is in the office.
Thank you Sandeep!
Regarding the project, where do we upload the Word document with the stories written in it as I can only see the Submit option under Projects Tab.
Ashwin/Others: Right now, don't submit anything. Keep the work ready in a Word document. We shall add more details to the project as we learn more topics.
In yesterday's session, Yasmine asked for reference for the "Rarely/Never used features" data. Here is the original Standish group report that has this data.
Can you please share the project questions here on the forum, for our reference?
Thanks Sandeep.. what does your work item look like for the above personas samples as we have in the project backlog? Are we supposed to write the personas for each of these work items like above sample for our project? I'm a Network engineer and never worked with any scrum master before and just trying to understand how i should get started on this.
Integrate with number of publicly available weather services based on location
Detect location based on GPS (if on a device) or IP
Create a schema for storing weather data based on location
Logic for aggregating the data from multiple weather services
Provide severe weather advisory (push for app users)
Placeholders for advertising on portal and app
Show current weather
Show 5 day forecast by default
Link to 15 day forecast
Link to long range forecast
Show satellite image on a map
Show time lapse video of satellite forecast
Site should be “responsive” – accessible from mobiles, tablets as well
Publish API/Services for client apps
Create apps for iOS, Android, Windows and Blackberry
Three questions I have asked so far:
1. Write personas for the main portal product in the sample project
2. Convert the user stories in the backlog for the main portal into the template As a <User/Persona> I need <Feature> so that <Reason>
3. Make a relative weights table for the main portal to determine priorities.
After you have done with those, download the "Jira-project-files" from LMS and start working on the 6 steps mentioned there. You will be able to use the stories and personas written for completing steps 1 to 3.
@Ravi T please help the participants of the batch with their Jira credentials.
As some of you requested, here is the sample Excel for prioritization using relative weights.

As promised, I'm posting my question here. I wasn't sure if I need to have templates for each story. I'm missing two for dev. tasks:
1. Logic for aggregating the data from multiple weather services
2. Publish API/Services for client apps
In general it's hard to write for any story, when persona is developer.
Second question, I guess we should add imaginary users that we will assign tasks in JIRA?
Excellent question. Here is my attempt to make them more readable to the team through the template. It may not be perfect, but hope it helps.
1. As a <Data Owner/Suitable Persona> I want to collect and aggregate data from multiple weather services so that I can give the most recent and reliable information to the consuming users and applications
2. As a <App administrator/Suitable Persona> I want to publish a rich set of API's so that multiple consumer apps can be built based on our platform, which will expand our footprint and accelerate the development of features for our end users
Yes - you will need to add users to assign tasks in JIRA.
Requesting the assistants to post here, the process for claiming the exam voucher and scheduling the Exin ASM exam here. There are some learners who are not clear.
As requested, this is the Exam question set from Exin that I had used in the session.
Please post direction to the process for claiming the exam voucher and scheduling the Exin ASM exam here as Sandeep requested.
Additional question is if we don't past in first attempt, do we have right to have another or we need to pay for the second time. If so, what is the charge? Thank you fJadranka
