The following information is derived from the (ISC)2 website.
The fixed-length, linear exam of 6 hours has been replaced by a variable-length Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT), which can be of a maximum duration of 3 hours. As compared the previous format, where each candidate had to answer 250 questions, in the CAT a candidate will have to answer between 100 to 150 questions.
CAT uses a scoring algorithm which uses the response of candidates to estimate their ability. With each answer the estimate of the algorithm becomes more precise. The exam content and passing standard have not changed.
