As a context of Hadoop single node installation, I want to copy file from local file system to HDFS.
What's the local file system path and HDFS path when everything installed in single machine?
It might be stupid question but i was very confused to me.

    Hi Sathish,

As per the file system logic, you can divide the filesystem into different drives rite. in the same way, you can create hadoop file system as a separate filesystem in linux file system.

    i.e
    1. Linux filesystem is local file system.
    2. Hadoop filesystem access local file system memory to store the data that is nothing but HDFS.

    Example:

    hadoop fs -put ./text hdfs:/user/test

The above command says the hadoop file system is accessing the memory to store the test data file on HDFS from local file system.

Note: ./ means ===>>present location of you text file.

I hope the above resolution clears your confusion.

    Regards
    Karthik
