What are the ranges of Private IP address?
The Private IP address ranges are Given Below
• 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10/8 prefix)
• 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix)
• 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16 prefix)
Does a segment contains MAC address?
Segment do not contain MAC address, it is Frame at layer-2 which contains source and destination mac address.
In the CCNA chapter 4 quiz question #2 declares 220.127.116.11/16 a private address - why is this? Doesn't the closest block of private IPs start at 172.16.0.0? If the 16 bit subnet mask somehow brings this into range I'd love a better explanation.
Similarly a later question implies that 18.104.22.168 is a private IP address too, is this a mistake?
