Are cloud computing and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), considered the same thing? Can you describe differences and similarities of application or usage?

Though obviously not the same, it is like describing the two sides of a coin: SaaS and Cloud Computing.
While cloud computing gives you access to a customized environment according to your needs, you will be limited to the features and capabilities written into the software with SaaS. Also, cloud computing offers the ability to increase server capacity or storage space on demand.

Cloud computing and SaaS is not really the same thing, but one is very much related to the other. The generic heading of cloud computing encompasses lots of subniches including virtual private servers and even web hosting, while SaaS is all about renting software (via online server-in the cloud) from another company on a per use basis. This can represent a significant savings for the company.

Cloud computing is more for people that develop software or IT departments-such as for developing aaps- while SaaS is for anyone (in a business) that needs to use a specific software. With SaaS, you are using the software on a per use basis, so it's scalable to fit your needs.

In simple words, Cloud Computing is a generic term reffering to a concept where in servers, storage, network, applications, or any other software services are shared over the internet to the relevant users/customers.
Where as SaaS is a term which refers to a concept that "a particular service "X" is available in a central location which can be utilised by relevant customers/users through internet" The service "X" is not generic but is custom defined to fit any particular business requriements.
