    Hello Aspirants,

Hope our previous posts helped you plan your certifications. If you missed out on the post " How to unlock the certificate, here is the link " :

    http://community.simplilearn.com/th...ctitioner-certificate-will-be-unlocked.27452/

Now, this post will help you with regards to the project. This project is use Java as the language where even a non programmer can learn and work on it. Ofcourse, a little effort is required.

    Problem Statement :

There is a requirement to be able to convert an integer into words. For example, 57 needs to be converted into “fifty seven"

Here are the important things you should consider while working on the project.

    The deliverables are:
 The unit test java file
 The number to words Java file
 The main application Java file
 The test results file from the report directory
 A screen shot of the application output after running it with a representative set of numbers
 A screen shot of Jenkins web page to show test case results of Numbers project
 A screen shot of Jenkins web page to display build creations of Numbers project

How to start the work on Project ? :

 Clone the repository and install Ant.
     git clone https://github.com/simplilearn-devops/devops-project-3
     curl -O http://www-eu.apache.org/dist//ant/binaries/apache-ant-1.10.1-bin.zip
     unzip apache-ant-1.10.0-bin.zip
     ln –s apache-ant-1.10.0 ant
     Start the VNC server.
 On your local machine connect to the VNC server on port 5901
 Open the Numbers project in Eclipse.
 Add the jar files in lib to the classpath. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10386869/how-do-i-add-jar-files-to-the-classpath
 Develop the numbers to words application using TDD.
 Implement the main application to read numbers from the keyboard and print out the values.
 On the server navigate to the Numbers project.
 Run ant to build the project. The build will fail if the unit tests fail.
     ~/ant/bin/ant dist
 The results of the unit tests are in the report directory which got created.
 Run the application and try it out.
     java –j Numbers.jar

Hope this is helpful. You can check the important link mentioned in front of the each point above to learn understand better.

Change attached source to external is also not working. How to we resolve this in VM.

The file you have downloaded has version 1.10.1. The file you are trying to unzip is version 1.10.0. The message very clearly says its unable to find the file with the name you have mentioned in unzip command. Please do basic check while typing or copy-pasting commands when doing labs and project.

Did you run the unzip command before that? That should create the ant folder. Here the error is there is no ant folder.

This is not an error. If you have done the labs in the course you would know VNC the password to connect to your remote machine is simplilearn. Please follow your lab documents.

    Hi,

I have developed the code as discussed with Rakesh Deshpande to convert 10 numbers to words. I am facing a few problems.

    a. Unable to take screenshot or copy the code to my local PC from Eclipse (installed in cloud). How to go about it?
    b. I could not run the ant build as I could not find the build.xml file (Please guide me how to complete this part of the project?

    Regards
    SUmeet

    Hello,

Here is one more tricky problem you may face while working on the project. VNC not connecting to your port.

I don't need to do this as I turned off my firewall on my laptop. Also, I am using the vnc viewer to connect to my compute node and not the vnc server. Even if I use the vnc server application on my laptop instead of the viewer it will not make the difference since the port setup is done through the firewall and it is turned off.

    Rakesh,
I face the same issue even after following the steps as mentioned in the link you provided. Is there an alternative?
