Hello, I have a question; I was unable to join the first 2 Jan 26/27 (ending Feb 23) classes but I watched the recording; in day 1 Sonal said that we have to be 85% in the live classes but I will also miss 3 more live sessions and have to do the recordings again - they are working fine for me so what is the real requirement and this was NOT told to me prior to signing up but I do need this course (and I am enjoying her explanations)

I created a dummy user under IAM and then I clicked on "Send email" option to mail the login credentials to the newly created user. I also pressed and held the control key while clicking on "Send email" option and a new chrome window was opened. But there was no option to send an email.

    Kind Regards,

Let us suppose Root creates a user "admin" and then that "admin" is given S3 full access. Admin created a bucket and when Root opened his S3 dashboard he saw a bucket has been created. But how does the Root know that who is the creator of that bucket since the creator name is not shown there.

I have noticed that the AWS management console does not log off automatically if the browser is kept idle for many hours. Does it comply with the AWS security standards?

In the VPC hands-on, one of the requirement is to launch an EC2 Instance using our own VPC and not the default VPC. I was able to successfully create my own VPC (name : Laks_First_VPC) using my root account in North Virginia region. I am doing this offline (https://aws.amazon.com) and not on simplilearn lab. My root account is in North Virginia region and so are the VIPs, private and public subnets

But while launching EC2 it is only showing default VPN whereas my VPN is disabled and not available for selection. I am unable to proceed further on the hands-on, Kindly refer screenshot and help further

    Regards,
    Lakshmikant

    Hi Learner,
Sorry for the miscommunication. Kindly be informed, to unlock your certificate, you need to complete the project no 3, pass 1 simulation test with more than 65% and attend 85% of the live classes in 1 batch.

    Hi Chirag,
Policy Simulator console or the policy simulator API is used to test policies. To allow console or API users to test policies that are attached to IAM users, groups, or roles in your AWS account, you must provide permission to retrieve those policies.

Suppose if I wish to use my laptop as a MFA device. For that I have downloaded a Google Chrome extension named GAuth Authenticator. But how that extension would scan the QR code to get synchronized and act as the virtual MFA for the root account.

    Kind Regards,

    hi Sonal,

I couldn't join few of the sessions and was listening to your recordings and it is great. I see that you posted your session notes and few other images to AWS and removed it after some time. Since i couldn't download them, wondering if you can re-upload them again or attach it here...so i can download them as they are very helpful to follow even after the sessions are over.

    Thanks,
    Lalitha

    Hi All,

This question would have probably been answered during the intro class itself, and i might have missed it. Hence posting it here.

Before the AWS Solution architect, we have a entry level certification called "Certified Cloud Practitioner".

Is it advisable to complete this certification before attempting the main Solutions architect certification?

    Thanks

A user has been created by the root and has been given access with the permission "IAMReadOnlyAccess". He can still activate MFA. Do we still assign "IAMFullAccess" permission to him? Is it industry or Amazon's protocol?

    Kind Regards,

    Lalitha,

You will have to enroll for the upcoming batch from your LMS account, attend the day 1 and check if the trainer is Sonal.
As the trainers are not allocated in prior and there may be a change in the faculty for the sessions due to unforeseen circumstances.

You can use a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet, as a virtual multi-factor authentication (MFA) device.

    Hi Sonal,

That is correct, but you had mentioned in the session that a laptop/desktop can also be used as a MFA device. That's why I tried it.

    Hi Sonal,

But just for enabling MFA "IAMReadOnlyAccess" permission is enough.

    Hi Sonal,

Any response for my question posted on Monday ? Posted under Member ID : _15708

I have a free tier account (created using gmail ID 2 weeks ago). I created a Custom VPC by choosing free tier T2.Micro block. Although VPN is created successfully yet it is disabled/grayed out upon selection while launching EC2 as seen in that screenshot. It is only allowing the default VPC to get selected but not my Custom VPC. This was not the case that day when you were showing us the demonstration.

I can only see my custom VPN enabled when I switch over to T2 Nano or T2 Large and those are not free tier. I also got charged 6 dollars for that last week. I found a link that had discussion around this issue (Launch ec2 instance in vpc greyed out) - https://forums.aws.amazon.com/thread.jspa?messageID=249370&#249370

Has any other member faced this issue ? Why is it that T2.Micro free tier is giving this issue here ? Any clue ?

    Regards,
    Lakshmikant

    Hi Learner,
You need to go through the AWS TEchnical Essentials course before attending the Solution Architect course.

    Hi Sonal,

I tried to lunch the EC2 instance in defualt VPC and then try to connect to it via Public IP through Putty. It's not connecting.

I have tried, and MFA also works by granting "IAMReadOnlyAccess" only.

    Hi Sonal,

I created Topic in SNS and confirmed the subscription but when I am trying to provide the permissions to publish message to everyone, I am not finding below options in my SNS Topic. Could you please advise me what I am missing here?

    1. Click on “Other Topic Actions” and “Edit Topic Policy”.

    2. Change “Allow these users to publish messages to this topic” to “Everyone”.

    3. Click on “Update Policy”.

    Thanks,
    Monika C
