    Hi Nimisha,

    The Statistics Essentials for Data science self learning course that you recommended to go through seems to be a bit complex. Is there any other references that you would recommend that can explain the concepts in layman terms with examples so that it becomes easier for us to get accustomed to the terms and formulas being used.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Bala

    HI Nimisha,

    I second with Bala. the Statictics Essential for data Science self learning course is too complex. Is it possible for you spend some time on those topics,in the live classes.

    hi everyone,
    below is my code for determining whether a user-input number is a prime number. For the other 2 requirements on prime number, believe I would need to use nested loop, but still trying to figure out how to structure same.

    # tell whether number is prime number
    num = int(input("Enter a number: "))

    if num % 2 == 0:
    print (num, "is divisible by 2")

    elif num % 3 == 0:
    print (num, "is divisible by 3")

    elif num % 5 == 0:
    print (num, "is divisible by 5")

    elif num % 7 == 0:
    print (num, "is divisible by 7")

    elif num % 9 == 0:
    print (num, "is divisible by 9")

    else:
    for i in range(10,num):
    if num % i == 0:
    print (num, "is divisible by", i)
    else:
    print (num, "is a prime number")

    Regards
    Eddy

    Hi Rahul,

    Please try the below:

    df = pd.read_csv('C:/Users/Rahul/Desktop/Datasets/Lesson 8-9 Hypothesis Testing Ex 1.csv')

    This format worked for me in jupyter from windows.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hello Nimisha,
    what is the use of astype 'category' in brics.country = brics.country.astype('category') . Normally string is represented as a object.
    Is there any specific use for datatype 'category' ?

    regards

    Hi Nimisha,

    I have few doubts,

    1. Please explain below code:

    data['Initial']=0
    for i in data:
    data['Initial']=data.Name.str.extract('([A-Za-z]+)\.')

    Example : for Name Braund, Mr. Owen Harris - Mr is extracted from data.Name.str.extract('([A-Za-z]+)\.') code but how??

    what does this code do data.Name.str.extract('([A-Za-z]+)\.') ?

    2. data.loc[[[data['Initial']== 'Dr'] & [data['Sex']== 'female']]] = "Mrs". How to code using pandas to replace female and Dr with Mrs???

    Thanks
    Rajat

    Hi Nimisha,

    Please find below problem and attached as answer.

    The annual cost of automobile insurance is $939. Assume that the population standard deviation is $245. Find the probability that a SRS of insurance policies will have a sample mean within $25 of the population mean for sample sizes 30, 50, 100, and 400.

    Observations:

    1)Probability increases with the sample sizes.
    2)As sample size increases ,standard error will be decreased.

    In addition to this, you have to complete any 1 Simulation Test with minimum 60% score.

    I am sure this will help you. All the very best for your course completion.

    Hi Rajat
    1. data_frame.column_name.str.extract() extracts a text or pattern from a string. '([A-Za-z]+)\.' is a regular expression :
    - [A-Za-z] -- refers to any alphabet(capital - A-Z or lower case - a-z
    - + indicates followed by
    - \. any special character to mean a special character needs to be preceded by a '\' a back slash

    2. for this you will have to use logical condition, the replace functions simply replaces without any additional conditions

    Thanks and Best
