Some Facts about Agile Projects:

In agile projects we have a high-level plan, they are descriptions of features and functions which are in product backlog.

We build prototypes that we repeatedly review with stakeholders for feedback, and through this continuous feedback, we refine our high-level stuff into definitions of requirements, scope, duration, cost, risk and quality.

The objective is to start in the work with high-level estimates, and quickly refine into what is needed on the product.

That is why we talk about MVP(Minimum Viable Product) and MBI (Minimum Business Increment) in agile.

So therefore we say agile approach is iterative, change based, adative, incremental and so on.

Hi Students,

This is the reply one of my other batch student get in relation to 7th Edition and 6th Edition of PMBOK and PMP Certification as below:

"The PMBOK® Guide is an input to preparing for the PMP® exam – and is listed as a reference – but it is not a test-preparation tool"

"The current version of the PMP exam, which launched 2 January 2021, will continue to use the PMBOK® Guide – Sixth Edition as one of several references."

"You can take help from PMBOK seventh edition also as it is released already."

"Both versions is available on PMI website. Candidates can use it as a reference."

"We strongly recommend that candidates refer to the current Exam Content Outline for up-to-date information about preparing for certifications. Information about PMI certifications and future changes can be found at pmi.org/certifications."

"As you have studied from PMBOK 6th edition and LOCHOICE, it is also good."

Hope that helps.

Thanks. I believe its imperative to take PMI membership to get access to PMBOK. Request you to guide on the process that we can adopt to get the PMBOK.

Hi,

Two reflective questions based on Lesson#1 we finished.

1.Why do you think it's important to identify and document the project stakeholders?

2.Share a situation when you were required to communicate a difficult message about the project to its sponsor or a top-level executive. What approach and communication method did you take?

2.Share a situation when you were required to communicate a difficult message about the project to its sponsor or a top-level executive. What approach and communication method did you take?
Responses:

1. It is important to identify and document the project stakeholders because they are affected by the product. Many stakeholders are also project sponsors, they fund the project, they are part of creating Project Charter and giving Vision to the project. Many stakeholders are from multiple backgrounds with subject expertise, that help in consulting the project shape at various phases. Stakeholders are the key decision makers on how the project should go around and the required deliverables.

2. The situation was rise in price of the Routers that were supposed to be installed. Because of rise in prices, the cost of raw material was going up to 20%. I chose Email to inform and suggestions, followed by a virtual meeting with all the concerned stakeholders and senior team members, to suggest them my options and pros and cons of the same. Over the meeting discussions were done and desired decision was made.

1.Why do you think it's important to identify and document the project stakeholders?

Identifying project stakeholders :
- It helps to pick out roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder in the assigned project.
- By this, as a PM we can get to know about outcomes of respective stakeholders on periodic meeting.

Documenting project stakeholders :
- Creating details of each stakeholder including mail, mobile numbers for effective communication.
- Documenting will help out identifying key stakeholders.

2.Share a situation when you were required to communicate a difficult message about the project to its sponsor or a top-level executive. What approach and communication method did you take?

Situations might be over budget or work might not be completed on a deadline.

Approach I would suggest,
- When Communicating with Sponsor or top level executive better to share the details straight and to the point rather than detailed one.

- If the issue is small we can remain calm and take actions to resolve the issue ASAP.
(Ex: Assigning more manpower and extending work time to finish the work before the deadline).

Communication method :
- Video Conferencing
- Face to Face meeting

1. Identifying Stakeholders- this is the start of initiating the process and its important that we identify the stakeholders to understand their roles and responsibilities in the project which in turn will help in clear communications in every phase of the product.
Documenting the project stakeholders is nothing but Identifying how a stakeholder fit in a project also helps in faster resolution of issues, saves us time. It's like a Quick reference on whom to contact , how to contact and when to contact.

2. We had identified that most of the employees PF statements amounts had a calculation issue by the payroll vendor and there was a huge chaos on the ground level ( field force team) that their money is being looted.

We decided to have a face to face meeting with center head . By placing facts on the table and with immediate resolution ( we arranged for a team to visit the retail points and conduct session on PF with the correct statements) to curb the situation.

Importance of identifying and documenting the stakeholders :
1. Early on , identifying stakeholders helps us understand whom to look out for, understand their expectations, report and reach out to them whenever needed so they can involve and help making processes easier.
2. Documenting is for the whole team to understand and know who and what level of involvement is there. It is more like a document to refer to.

Situation :
Have had one situation related to Budget
The approach i took was a face to face meeting where i stuck to facts and kept it to bullet points for them to see the most important points. sometimes, things may seem a little blunt but from the experience, it was best kept that way than to sugar coat.
