In our notes from yesterday, it says we should be doing practice questions over the sections we covered in our session. However, I can't find where I can do practice questions over section specific material. Can you please point me in the right direction?

Also, will the daily session notes be separate files for each day or a continuous single file? I like to print them out and review after class and was hoping it would be daily separate session notes files. Just curious...

Hi Tim,

I am working in the Civil Construction industry and I am a bit unaware of the Agile and Scrum methodologies. We most probably use the Waterfall method, which is traditional I guess. I would like to understand more about these methods.

Practice questions: For section-specific, refer to the Student Handbook, look toward the back - "Mastery Builders" is the section.

Please explain "Benefit management plan" to identify all Stakeholders.
This is a plan that addresses:
- How and when the project benefits will be delivered.
- what we have in place to measure those benefits.

This plan may reference stakeholders in that we need to communicate value to stakeholders and we need to work with stakeholders to understand project value.

The best way to understand the two basic methodologies we discuss:

- I use a predictive (waterfall is one type of predictive) methodology, when I and the team/stakeholders understand the work and we can invest in a solid plan.

- I use agile when I and the team/stakeholders understand the work to be generally unknown, uncertain, prone to great change, and complex. We use a general framework based on needs and objectives, and rely on relationships for success.

Exciting news! My PMP Exam Application has been approved by PMI. I was worried because in submitting my application I was unable to provide explicit details regarding my project management experience due to the details of my projects being proprietary and confidential. I was able to submit the application demonstrating my experience by outlining the details without including specifics regarding my clients or employer and my application was approved. Now, on to the next steps of finalizing my exam prep and scheduling my exam!

Many congratulations!! wow..probably the first one from our batch (pls correct me if am wrong).
Appreciate if you can share information on..
1. How many questions which require calculations / formula?
2. Questions, Split % between Agile & Predictive.
3. How much did you score in the practice questions (simplilearn), if possible in each of the three tests?
4. Any tips on how to prepare ( i am kind of stuck in between 65%- 75% , am taking ad hoc tests found on line..still have to start the simplilearn questions).
5. Did you follow PMBOK or any other reference books.
6. Did you take certification exam online? Any tips on scheduling the test?
7. Any tips on time management during the exam?(i took a mock one for 100 questions yesterday and it was exhaustive...i got about 65% but then today while reviewing found about 6 questions are from topics that i dont remember we covered!)
8. Total duration of your preparation, pls..how did you pace studies?

Again, appreciate if you can answer most if not all :)
thanks in advance & best wishes!

Thanks a lot Sai !

1. 5 to 6
2. Agile in majority
3. Test 1 (86%) Test 2 (87%) Test 3 (91%) Test 4(87%)
4. Situational based questions cover majority of my exam. Read questions very well and learn to prioritize the correct action.
5. PMBOK 6 edition. Only for reference few times. Simplilearn study material and notes from Tim are sufficient enough.
6. I booked a test online from home, the exam did not launch. then booked a exam in my nearest test center. If possible go for a test center.
7. Have trust in your preparation. Keep note of time for every question. Take the 2 available breaks in between exam and relax.
8. Exactly 2 months. I enrolled with Simplilearn on 17 June, passed exam yesterday. After completing your study/revision, start giving test daily till you reach your target score.

Hope this will be useful. Good Luck to you.

Hi.. i encountered this question in the practice test. in case a risk occurs that is already in the risk register. what should the response of the PM be. should he notify the risk to the Project stakeholder or should he refer to the risk register, see what is the response mentioned and implement the risk response.

Should the PM notify the stakeholder for every risk that has happened. ?

the answer to this question seems wrong. if the unavailability of the key stakeholder is anticipated in the near future, how can it be an issue. shouldnt choice c be the right answer?

these 2 questions are almost identical but with different answers. can anyone enlighten me why are the responses different or have i understood the question incorrectly. ?

Hi all & Tim, Hope all are doing well..

Any one who knows the topic / subject can guide me on this query..

While doing questions on PMI.com, anything related to PERT is related to (O+4M+P)/6. in PMBOK (6th ed) it is mentioned as Beta distribution. In our class we are explained (O+M+P)/3 (which is written as Triangular distribution in PMBOK, 6th Ed).
QUESTION is which formula to be used when?

More info:
Question was -
what is the formula for 3 point PERT estimating..in the choices both (O+M+P)/3 and (O+4M+P)/6 were given. i chose the first one as my answer but it was incorrect.
For simplification, kindly note that I removed 'c' from the formulae.

most of the times , you should be using the beta distribution formula until it is explicitly mentioned to use triangular method. i found the beta distribution formula used in all the practice questions i have gone through till now.
