Struggling with the idea of assessing training needs during Agile projects: How far in advance should the PM anticipate and plan for team members' training needs in Agile? E.g the Dev team needs to learn a program for work items in an upcoming sprint. The card is blocked pending training. Or do we not pull the feature forward? When should the PM be assessing the skill gap? During Backlog Refinement? How would the PM know there was a skill gap?
I mean like a configuration or integration they hadnt worked with before. My experience was that the team didnt realize all of our 3 Devs didnt understand the coding and needed a training before the card was unblocked, I believe it was an integration for ACH processing to our application. Thank you!Atleast some level of proficiency should be there with the member. Training can help improve efficiency and quality of overall story execution. Story point estimate (time boxed) should cover the additonal effort needed for a non-expert member to complete the task. For a developer to work on program, will include estimate for analysis, coding, testing, etc, Story size are normally small enough to accomodate within a sprint (2 week).
