Hi Guys, I wanted to check if anybody is planning to take exam immediately after the course is completed (around Oct 6th or so). I started my studies from last week (around sep 6th or so). I am not sure if this much time and prep. will be enough to clear the exam. I am from a non technical background. Please let me know what do you guys think. Regards, Devdatta

Thanks Myra. This is useful. I also wanted to check about the version of TOGAF standard - 9.1 or 9.2 should we refer to? What is the difference between the two.

I have downloaded this introduction to TOGAF9.2 from Open Group website.
    https://publications.opengroup.org/w182
It also has changes from TOGAF 9.1 to TOGAF9.2 (page 13 to19)
    Hope this is helpful.

    @Pavan,

I am able to access this. Yesterday I was getting frequently 500 server error. Perhaps due to server load.

yes planning to give it in month of Oct. Fingers crossed. I am a bit nervous though even though I am getting good scores in mock exams not sure if the real exam will be similar or much tougher than mocks :-(
Let me know if you know any tough mock exams. I have already attempted opengroup, simplilearn and learncert mock exams. I got 90%+ in L1 and L2 I am getting 80-90%.

    Regards,
    Guru

Hi, I gave my exam and passed on Oct 6th. 92% on Level 1 and 75% on level 2. Level 1 exam had 5 options to choose from and level 2 had 4 answer options. using the reference book is very tedious and slow task and navigating through the book is also slow. I felt difficulty level as same as the ones given on the simplilearn practice tests.

    regards,
    Devdatta

Congratulations Dev !!! Thanks for letting us know. I will be giving the exam shortly. I was expecting the PDF to be searchable. How was the Level 2 questions, it looks like you got a couple of them wrong. PDF not being searchable is really bad though since it eats away candidate's time putting more pressure on individual performance.

    Regards,
    Guru

Question: Which of the TOGAF ADM phases is considered to be the initial phase of an Architecture Development Cycle?
    A. Preliminary Phase
    B. Phase A
    C. Phase B
    D. Phase E
    E. Phase G
Correct Answer is B - Phase A and it is NOT A - Preliminary Phase. I thought it was A all this while.
    Explanation comments:
Architecture Vision is the initial phase of a cycle. Note that the Preliminary Phase is a preparatory phase. Phase A: Architecture Vision describes the initial phase of an Architecture Development Cycle. It includes information about defining the scope, identifying the stakeholders, creating the Architecture Vision, and obtaining approvals.

    Hi Guys,
I gave my examination today and i cleared it.
    L1 - 88% ~ (35/40)
    L2 - 95% ~ (38/40)

    Observations:
The examination center was good. They will provide you a locker to store your phone/wallet etc which is not allowed inside. There is a webcam inside the room which monitors your movement and it is analysed by the staff later iam told. They provide you with a marker and a plastic(not paper) scratch pad. Examiner told me that they will analyze that also not sure how. Use it to your full extent to make notes and review which i did. The examiner did not even allow me to take tissue paper/duster inside the room to rub the marker :). I had to rub the marker by hand !!! :-(. Water bottles are also not allowed. For nature breaks, water breaks etc. you have to take permission come out and they lock the system. It is like a jail and its good. Happy with the security, no complains though i wish a duster/eraser can be provided :).

The software is slow and it take quite a few seconds for the PDF to open. It is ironic that a test for architects has a under-performing software. Iam going to write to the "pearson ave" team about this. It is frustrating so be mentally prepared. The PDF is searchable but it is not a full size window. Everytime you open the PDF half a minute gone. Every scroll eats 15 secs and it gets stuck everytime you scroll adding to your frustration. You feel like throwing away the whole computer out of the window. Not sure if it was issue with the computer or software. At one time i thought the system was going to crash. thank god it did not.

Level 1 was tougher than anticipated. I am slightly disappointed with my score since in all mock exams i used to score 95% or even 100% in some cases. The questions are reworded differently and the context is also slightly changed to confuse the candidate but this is with a few questions only and not all. I came across 1-2 questions which i had to guess(never happened with me in mocks exams).
However the content/syllabus is the same.So all the best to other candidates.

    Regards,
    Guru

PDF has page numbers though I did not find any index. The page number search is useless since i tried that i ended up in some other page. since the window size is smaller than a full window(it is not resizeable) the page number is not getting mapped correctly. so you type page no.100 and it lands on page.151 or some other page. I relied heavily on keyword search.

    Regards,
    Guru

I also took the exam today and passed :)
The reference book that opened was 9.2 version, but it was very similar in structure to G116.

Congratulations Chandan! Could you share your experiences of the exam for both level1 & level2?

We were informed that 9.2 version is in effect starting Nov 1st, 2018. I guess your certification should say 9.2?

    Hi Chandan,

    Congratulations for getting certified.
Did you also face the issue while accessing the PDF(G116)?

The marksheet just says TOGAF 9. I'll post back when I get the certificate from open group if that says any different.

My experience was also very similar to Guru. Everything regarding the centre was exactly the same. Couple of things that I want to highlight.

During the practice and mock tests, I used to answer very fast and complete the tests quickly. Usually 15 min for L1 and 30 min for L2. But in the actual exam, I was slow and careful. Took around 40 mins for L1 and 75 mins for L2.
There is an option to flag questions that you are not sure for review at the end of the exam. I would suggest to make use of it. This will stop from getting stuck on one question for too long and give time to look at it later.
The difficulty level was more than the practice tests. And there were questions from all over the book. I feel it was really important to cover all the topics.
Specially for L2, the options could sound similar and confusing. The key was to pick the most TOGAFish answer. I tried to refer the book for 4 questions. It was really needed for questions around artifacts, which I had 2. You can search the book by keywords, but that's pretty much it. Also the book will maximise to only half of the screen. But like I said before, there is ample time available so best to make use of it.

    Good Luck!
