Hi Raj -
Posting exercises on View and Viewpoint. It would be a great help if you could have a glance on these as well -

1. Exercise—Views and Viewpoints for a Simple Airport System
Primary Stakeholders in the given scenario -
i) Air traffic Controller
ii) Pilot

●Name some elements in the pilot’s view not viewed by the controller

a) Preflight checklist of all system (including fuel, engines, hydraulics, electronic) to ensure that the engines, controls, instruments, and other systems are functioning properly.
b) IFR/VFR (Instrument or Visual Flight Rules )Rulebook Considering airport altitudes, outside temperatures, plane weights, and wind speeds and directions in order to calculate the speed needed to become airborne.
c) Aircraft Control Board - to Monitor engine operation, fuel consumption, and functioning of aircraft systems during flights.

●Name some elements in the controller’s view not viewed by the pilot

a) All flights Arrival & Departure Chart
b) surveillance radar monitoring System
c) Airport Landside Functional Flow (both for Landing Area & Terminal)
d) Rescue and evacuation plan in any kind of emergency

●Name some shared elements
a) Weather Radar system
b) Instrument flight plans - Pilot files instrument flight plans with air traffic control so that flights can be coordinated with other air traffic.

2. Exercise—Views and Viewpoints for a Simple Airport System

●Describe 2 viewpoints for this system.
Aircraft Navigation Viewpoint & Controller viewpoint

●Why is using viewpoints helpful?
Aircraft Navigation Viewpoint is essential to perform take-off, drive and landing activities smoothly with safety for all crew and passengers.

Air Traffic Controller Viewpoint is essential to control all flights take-off and landing activities in smooth way with no hazard. Controller helps pilots to perform their duty with confidence. It controls all ground level traffic like taxiways.

Hello Folks, Please post your response

Hi Raj,

Please review and have your feedback on questions from exercises for – Content Framework, Content metamodel

Thanks

Naresh

Q:What other content frameworks do you know of?

Answer: TOGAF, ITIL, ZACHMAN, COBIT, PRINCE2, DODAF, eTOM

Q:What are the advantages and disadvantages of using an external framework in conjunction with the

ADM instead of the TOGAF Architecture Content Framework?

Answer: External framework (such as Zachman, ITIL etc.) are compatible with TOGAF ADM.

The ADM describes what needs to be done to create an architecture and external frameworks can be leveraged for what the architecture should look like once ADM is done.

Determine which of the Metamodel extensions is most appropriate for the following situations:

Q:Where organizations have conflicting objectives.

Answer: Motivation Extension. In case organizations have conflicting objectives, then those conflicts needs to be understood and addressed in a structured fashion by defining more compromise service levels. This should be done using Motivation Extension in business architecture.

Q: Where service levels are unknown.

Answer: Motivation Extension.

Q:Where many applications are in use with overlapping functionality.

Answer: Infrastructure Consolidation Extension. Infrastructure consolidation extension will provide more detail about visibility and analysis of redundant duplication of capability in the application.

Q: Where management of information is complex.

Answer: Data Extension. Data extension will model the data for multiple systems independent from its location. Data is logically grouped to set governance, security and access mechanism.

Q:Where business process has to support regulatory compliance

Answer: Process Modeling Extension. This extension may be used to support regulatory activities.

Q:What are the advantages and disadvantages of using Reference Models that are derived from within the enterprise.

Answers: reference models that originate from within the enterprise and have been

tried and tested are likely to have a much better fit to the needs of the organization, because they

will already be adapted to meet constraints of the enterprise.

outside the enterprise: reference models that originate from outside the enterprise are likely to

have been tested by many enterprises, and allow the adopting organization to adopt best practice

and converge with peer organizations.

Hi Raj,
Please review.

Exercise 2-1
Compare and contrast TOGAF with two other Architecture Frameworks.

TOGAF: Gives a process for creating artifacts

ZACHMAN: Tells how to categorize the artifacts.

COBIT: helps organizations in the creation, monitoring, and maintenance of IT governance and management practices

ITIL : Provides alignment of enterprise IT services and information systems with business and end-user/customer needs

<Jay> Yes Raj. Good to have Airport & Autopilot actors in plate; but in this context, 2 stakeholders such as Pilot and Air traffic Controller are selected as primary actors by exercise itself. Hence other stakeholders are getting out of scope here.

As all other actors except 2 human actors Pilot and ATC are out of scope, so I haven't take Autopilot into consideration.

I am attaching some sample views conforming to Air Traffic Controller & Pilot viewpoints here, Need your help to review.

Please provide some approach and guidance to crack level 2 of the exam

1) Understand the Enterprise Architecture as a practical approach & you should be able to deal with situations.
2) Try to eliminate the most absurd answer - possible when you understand the subject
3) Judge between the remaining 3
4) Plan to spend about 10 minutes on every question
5) Smile :)

Hi,
Business scenarios are usually stories around your business. So, any what-if situations for your business, which you are trying to solve, could go in place of your '????' .
