    Hello There,

Fragment is itself a portion. Now since you are working on Android the base for any application is activity. You customize it , provide some actionables etc.. likewise Fragments are also meant to work with activity.

Now what they represent? - Here the representation is interms of size taken by the Fragement interms of Activity. So I can tell you this.

Universal set is Activity and Fragment is a subset of it.

    Hope this is helpful.

Thank you very much @Rakesh Sir for this reply. Now, just a little bit confused about the statement: "Fragments are also meant to work with activity". What does this statement exactly means? Could you plz provide some detailing?

As i said, frqgments are subset of activities. You cannot have a fragment without an activity. Both should be gelled toegether like blood and heamoglobin. :)
